Scholarships for Indigenous Healthcare Education

HMA supports indigenous young people pursuing careers in health related fields at a University. Nursing, Medicine, pharmacy and other allied healthcare students are able to apply for these funds. There is a tremendous return on investing in the training of healthcare professionals for the rural areas where healthcare and even a basic understanding of factors contributing to disease is scarce.

Healthcare professionals in rural areas of Honduras and Guatemala (our current focus areas) are the gift that keeps on giving. Providing scholarships makes this happen. As put by one of our 2016 professional nurse graduates, "For me it was a blessing to have a scholarship that allowed me to cover the expenses at the university. I am very happy because my dream is a reality. I know I will help a lot of people in the communities to improve their health." A year's tuition at university averages $3000. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated and makes a world of difference in so many lives.
