Nurse Saira performs dental exams for school children in the 4 villages where she does monthly health clinics. Students with the greatest dental needs will be transported to the local dentist for care. Saira has negotiated a special price so more children can be treated.

Children seen at the clinics receive a cloth bag filled with personal hygiene items. Karen, our nursing scholarship student, helps Saira fill the bags.

In January 2018 a truck was purchased with GoFundMission funds and the assistance of Central America Mission Center President Gonzalo Mejia. The 4x4 truck allows Saira to reach remote villages in all weather conditions. In 2019 bars were added to the truck increasing the number of children taken to the dentist at one time.

A six person medical team traveled to Honduras in early August 2018. The team held village clinics organized by our Professional Nurse Saira Giron, who runs our Honduras Rural Health Program. Seventy patients were seen in El Zapotal, eighty-eight patients in San Antonio, and fifty-five patients in Las Crucites. The clinics had a station for each doctor and their interpreter while Saira oversaw the distribution of the prescribed medications, and record keeping. HMA's Auxiliary nursing scholarship student, Karen Tinoco, helped check in the patients and took vital signs.
