Keynote: Enriching our Lives through the "Arts"

Kat Goheen,
BA in Vocal Performance, MA
 in Theological Studies and Master of Theology in Biblical Studies.
Certified in Soul Guiding and Soul Mentorin
Certified in Spiritual Direction, Spiritual Formation, and Companioning 
“WE ARE ALL ARTISTS” Kat will help us explore our own personal artistry, no matter what form it takes. She’ll also explore what it means to take ego and the quest for mastery out of our artistic expression, freeing us to embody our spirituality through our art. Through her own experiences with music and poetry, she will share about the fruits of art available to us all.

Morning Breakout Sessions

Session 1: Healing Through Music & Movement

Hemdah Salonimer-Horner, Master of Music, Nat. Certified
Teacher of Music

Participants will be guided in exercises to experience music in deeper way, exploring its healing properties. Hemdah will also share some of the research about the power of music and her own experiences.

Session 2: Green "Therapy"

Brad Martel Ph.D. in Environmental Studies
Lori Martel M.S. in Environmental Education

Brad and Lori will share the documented benefits of intentionally "tuning in" to nature, which contributes to greater health and wholeness in our lives. 

Afternoon Breakout Sessions

Session 3: Art Therapy

Arlene Winslow, Red Bluff Art Association Board

Arlene will share her journey of recovery from trauma with a support group which spent 20 minutes each session making crayon drawings depicting nightmares, emotions, fears, etc. Creating visual images is therapeutic, creating connections and understanding.

Session 4: Prayer & Meditation "Therapy"

Katie Landry, MSW (Social Work)

Katie will share the benefits of meditation, guiding participants through multiple exercises they can use on their own. Meditation grows self-compassion and reduces stress. She will also share resources and research which informs the regular practice of mindfulness.
